ALF - An Acronym Is Morphing

Apr 01, 2017

Healing cannot be written upon a prescription pad - it is a team approach. The upcoming “ALF InterFACE 2017” conference is a unique opportunity to both learning powerful techniques, while at the same time experiencing a "symphony of pulling together, beyond our individual capacity" (Dr. Darick Nordstrom).

Healing is a journey that we are taking together
If you hear ALF and are just thinking of another soldered wire appliance you are missing out. Nowadays ALF stands for a philosophy. It stands for teamwork. It stands for releasing individuals from prescribed roles: “I am the doctor (you knows), you are the patient (who suffers)”. It allows time as the fourth dimension to be part of the path to healing which we are all walking together.

The power of teamwork and sharing what we love
Working in teams – which include patients as knowledgeable, competent members – makes a very complex task achievable. We have the option as dentists to concentrate on the basic rule formulated by Dr. Darick Nordstrom:
“The basic rule for solving the most challenging cases is to establish the environment that will facilitate the patient’s conversion to a mature, stable swallow”.

From here, we can add to the process whatever we feel called to do. My personal vision is to integrate “moving together in a loving embrace”. Yes, I know, this may sound quirky. It was my experience with Argentine Tango that has steered me towards making unexpected, deep-reaching personal discoveries, leading to new possibilities and choices. Touching, being touched, recognizing our fears, trusting enough to let go of them, arriving in the present moment, relaxing, and moving together brings about a magical and healing transformation.
It is as easy as embracing a fellow human being while listening to pleasant music and gently rocking from side to side.

Know what is happening in the ALF world
For anybody interested in staying on top of Dr. Darick Nordstrom’s work, here are your options:
1.  request membership in his secret Facebook group “ALF-FACES Study Group” (this will keep you up to date on happenings);
2.  contact Angie Tenholder, [email protected], to join the Midliner Study Club;
3. register for the “ALF InterFACE 2017” conference on April 27 – 30 in the St. Louis area: ALFInterface. Don’t procrastinate, there are only a few spots left.

Some of the Highlights of the Upcoming ALF InterFace 2017 Conference
TECHNOLOGY AND DOCUMENTATION
From the ALFInterface website:
“There have recently been several exciting additions to InterFACE 2017 experience. We will have plenty of technical equipment access thanks to the Tekscan company providing T Scan Novus handpieces and the donation of sensors to our event.  Henry Schein will be providing access to the Trios Scanner and the 3 Shape software for the virtual articulation of the dentition as utilized by Drs Nordstrom and Williams as we strive to determine a biometric analysis protocol for identifying those patients who are potentially structurally /metabolically susceptible to these progressively neurodegenerative events. We are anticipating even more involvement and activity as the event draws near and will keep you posted as things progress.

ELECTIVES
I am particularly excited about the course electives, some of them being

  • Dr. Lois Laynee will speak about cranial nerve neurosequencing.
  • Building on his hands-on elective on applying principles of subtle energies in the cranial field, Dr. Christopher Ngo, DO, will be expanding this concept by introducing Pranic Healing®, a system that affects all aspects of our daily lives.
